Judgment Day: Variety review
Variety's Karen Fricker posted another great review.
James Macdonald's impressive production for the Almeida jacks up the atmosphere, from highly detailed sound design to an ornate, revolving set to piercing beams of light that pinpoint characters like convicts caught fleeing a crime scene -- which in some cases, they are. While such selfconscious theatricality comes across somewhat as an effort to hasten along a slightly creaky dramaturgical structure, it does help make for an evocative, thought-provoking evening...
...The nagging question left with auds is whether we too might be tempted to cover up our responsibility were we caught out like the hapless Hudetz, whose agonies of indecision and guilt are brilliantly captured by Millson.
