The Daily Express has shared an article speculating over a new season of The Last Kingdom, discussing which characters would be expected to return, if season 3 was going ahead. Joseph's character has been included. Nothing has been announced yet. Read the article in full on the Express website. 

Who’s returning to The Last Kingdom season 3?

Season three of The Last Kingdom is expected to be based on Bernard Cornwell’s novels The Burning Land and Death of Kings - the fifth and sixth books from his Saxon Stories series.

Going by the books, the new run of the BBC and Netflix show will see the return of central character and narrator Uhtred of Bebbanburg (played by Alexander Dreymon).

The Last Kingdom official facebook page has shared a new trailer for series 2 which begins on BBC 2 (and also Netfix apparently), at 9pm on March 16th 2017. Unfortunately the video isn't embeddable, so watch on Facebook. A series 1 video on You Tube, describing how the series was created, is embeddable, and even features a behind the scenes glimpse of Joseph.

The BBC announced yesterday that series 2 of The Last Kingdom would return at 9pm on 16th March 2017. A longer launch trailer has also been shared, but there is no sign of Joseph, who reprises his role in series 2.

The Last Kingdom: filming begins for series 2

The BBC Press Office announced that principal photography has begun on the second series of The Last Kingdom. Joseph recently shared a couple of photos from Budapest on Instagram. 

Filming has started on BBC Two’s critically acclaimed drama The Last Kingdom, from Carnival Films. The second series, adapted by BAFTA-nominated and RTS award-winning writer Stephen Butchard from Bernard Cornwell’s bestselling series of novels, is to return to BBC Two next year, with Netflix joining as a co-production partner. The emotionally complex and compelling landscape of revenge, rivalry, hostility, corruption, love, sex, loyalty and friendship, forms the backdrop to a gripping adventure based on Cornwell's novels, The Lords Of The North and Sword Song – part of the hugely popular bestselling franchise The Last Kingdom.
